Sunny Side Scrambled
The eclectic collective pushing proper propaganda
Sunny Side Scrambled is a collective started by me to promote music and culture, with a design philosophy attached. Having grown up around music history at home, I felt a lack of connection to the music and culture scene in the city I study in. Right before starting SSS I studied abroad in Hong Kong, in one of the courses I followed I researched the political influence on music to gain understanding on how culture is built and the influence it has. I felt ready to be the change I want to see.

Through SSS I want to tell the story of the vast array of cultures around me (as the University I attend is very multi-cultured) as well as the importance of history on music.

'Proper Propaganda'
Creating a feeling
In our recent history propaganda is a powerful tool that is used in the cultures of my family and friends as well as the places I have visited. Propaganda has a very negative connotation and the idea behind these posters is to create creative positive propaganda with a bit of absurdism. This gives the collective/events a more holistic feel.

Intercultural stories
Recording the differences of life in different parts of the world. This is one of the first initiatives of Sunny Side Scrambled. This 'podcast' is recorded at a local Turkish café/restaurant with Turkish music playing in the background to create an atmosphere. In the episodes we interviewed individuals that have lived in different parts of the world to understand lifestyle differences. Countries mentioned in these episodes range from Mexico to Kazakshtan.

This event focused on representing the underground club scene of Germany (Berlin) and Ukraine (Kyiv) with artists from both cities. Important factors were respect and inclusivity.

Juke that Butt
The previous event was focused around the present, this one looks back to the past. Introducing the importance of this style of music with a leaflet was step one to immersing the visitor into music they probably have not heard before. Hip-house and Acid lay the foundation to almost all electronic music we have now, the goal was to share the roots to what many people consume in their daily life.
Cultural presentation
Part of the reason why I wanted to go to Hong Kong was to understand how it is to live in a repressed society. Through this event in a cinema setting I wanted to share what I saw and how I felt. Before the movie viewing I held a 30 minute presentation explaining the history and significance of Hong Kong and how it is to experience the societal change there.
NOV 5
Moving forward from the previous music event, this event was inspired by the style of 90s NYC. House and dance focused, music to move the body to with or without alcohol. We saw a surplus of people going to events mainly to get intoxicated, while the beauty of music is to feel it. Our goal of making people dance was met.
